Recently, the Economic and Technological Development Zone organized a ship oil spill emergency drill 

at the Weiyang Oil Terminal. Weihai Maritime Bureau, District Safety Supervision Office, Huangguan 

Street Office and other departmental units participated.

“Reporting manager, No. 3 flange of oil delivery arm was occurred oil leakage.” “Please immediately 

stop the operations and close the valves.” As the duty officer found and reported the oil spill, the 

oil spill emergency drill officially was begun. The drill was simulated when the berthing tanker's was 

carrying out unloading operations, the oil delivery arm was occurred oil leakage, and the cargo oil 

leaked to the shore and partially leaked to the front waters of the dock. The terminal immediately 

organized personnel to carry out oil delivery arm plugging and onshore oil spill removal operations, 

and notified the ship to leave the port urgently. After received the accident report, Weihai Maritime 

Search and Rescue Center launched an emergency response plan which was based on the site 

conditions, they carried out emergency response actions, and coordinated the part-time 

teams of Weihai City's oil spill emergency response to carry out clean-up equipment

(oil booms and oil absorbent pads) for oil spill containment and removal.

In this emergency drill, there were 6 ships, more than 10 sets of emergency cleaning equipment 

sets and more than 60 staff members participated in this drill. The subjects were included leakage 

disposal of oil pipelines, marine oil spill containment, oil spill recovery and oil spill removal. The drill 

was further improved the sudden safety and environmental pollution accidents disposal abilities 

of our district.
