In this afternoon, the Municipal Maritime Search and Rescue Center held a "2019 Yalu River Water Search 

and Rescue Comprehensive Drill" in the waters near the Yalu River. This drill is a multi-integrated water 

comprehensive exercise that integrates fire fighting, life saving, pollution prevention and anti-collision. 

The drill was mainly focused on the "Liaoan 1" passenger ship and "Jinxing 3" ship. The exercise was 

simulated the fire in the cabin of the "Liaoan 1" passenger ship, which caused the ship to lose control. 

The ship carried 35 tourists and 5 crew members. The ship was collided with the anchored sandstone 

ship "Jinxing 3" in the runaway drift, causing the hull of the "Jinxing 3" ship stern to rupture into the 

water and oil tank leakage. In the process, three tourists were scared and then entered into the 

water, and 40 people were threatened with life safety and waiting for rescue. After the "Liaoan 1" 

ship was disengaged from the "Jinxing 3" ship, the cabin fire was out of control and continued to drift 

in the downstream direction. There was always the danger of colliding with the Yalu River Highway 

Bridge. At the same time, it was found that there was a lot of oil slick on the river near the "Jinxing 3"

ship. The waters have the potential to encounter major pollution and request rescue. After received 

the police, the Municipal Maritime Search and Rescue Center responded promptly, reported the danger 

according to the emergency plan requirements, coordinated the forces such as boats and drones, and 

used professional equipment to help extinguish the fires of the ships, left the safe waters, and completed

the rescue and overflow of the people in distress and carried out oil emergency disposal by using 

oil booms and oil absorbent pads.
