In order to effectively complete the long-term management of environmental sanitation

in the jurisdiction and further improve the living environment, Longmian Street has 

recently organized personnel to desilt and rectify the river channels of the Longmian 

section of the Gaoqiao River to ensure that the rivers are clean and smooth and  it 

will play its flood prevention and drainage function normally.

Gaoqiao River is 4.8 kilometers long in Longmian Street and flows through Taiping 

Community, Huanggang Village and Dongsheng Village. This cleanup is mainly 

aimed at silt, black odorous water bodies, dead weeds, river channels and litter 

along the river. Due to the serious accumulation of silt in the river course and the 

large amount of construction waste, it is difficult to clean up. The staffs first

transported the river trash and silt to the fixed place on the river bank by using 

silt curtains and then by hand or with a shovel and other tools, and concentrated 

cleaning. Then the sludge pump and water pump perform cleaning. The villagers 

who watched the scene all praised the water quality of the river.
